Light Spill

$795.00

‘Light Spill’ 2022, ink print on canvas, 43.7 x 4.6 x 53.8 cm

Framed.

‘Still Life in May’ includes a series of black and white photographs, shot on one roll of film, on one particular sunny afternoon in May of 2022. A wave of inspiration came to me after being bed ridden for two weeks. I sat on the veranda with a mirror, a rock, an empty art book & a glass and created the series ‘Still Life in May’ with my beloved camera.

'Light Spill’ is one of several photographs taken of a glass interacting with the afternoon light. Each photograph reveals a light and dark mix of shadow splaying across the pages of a large empty artbook I placed the glass on. One of my main interests when photographing still life is observing how something or someone is interacting with light and the surrounding environment.

I chose to print this photograph on canvas as I believe the canvas pays homage to the texture of the film grain.

This print is part of a limited edition series. ‘Light Spill’ is on display and available for purchase at Soda Objects in Adelaide.
